Steve-- Changing the rear springs is easy. After removing the wheels, disconnect the rear shock (links) to allow the trailing arm to drop down. You may have to then turn the rear hub a few deg. to let the u-joint drop lower onto the frame. At this point the spring should be 'unloaded', and will pop out by inserting a screwdriver between one of the top coils and the spring crossmember.
When installing the new spring, you'll want to place the bottom into the trailing arm first, then twist the spring into position at the top. Again, a screwdriver can help coax it into place. I have neer had to use a spring compressor to do this job, using both stock and the stiffer springs.
