I was a lad of nineteen in the U.S. Air Force stationed at RAF Lakenheath in the U.K.
I saw my first TR6 sitting at the base taxi stand where the local car dealers would show
their stuff. You could buy a new 6 for about $1900, and a new XKE for four grand. I
didn't get my first TR6 until I got stateside. Though I did buy a 1970 BSA Lightning
motorcycle while in England. You couldn't get a Triumph Bonneville, they were all going
to the U.S.!
