I removed as much of the old stuff as could easily be done. I didn't worry
about getting it all off as the FatMat is really sticky and adheres to
anything. Plus I'm lazy!

Subject: [6pack] Sound Deadener
For those of you who redid your interiors using FatMat or another sound
deadening stick-on application, I'm curious what you may have done with the
factory-applied sound deadener. On the vertical rise of the rear shelf the
factory installed stuff has some rather large wrinkles where it may have
slipped over time (or just been applied that way). These of course were
hidden by the carpet and padding. Did you (1) just cover the
factory-applied sound deadener as is with the Fatmat, (2) cut out the
protruding wrinkles to flatten out what was there, (3) totally remove the
old stuff, (4) or something else?
