I painted mine body color, but got a padded cover for the top. Some pix are on my web page. 

Remember, real roll bars on race cars are for guys who are wearing helmets. If you get rear-ended on the road, your grape is going to smack that thing. I feel much more comfortable having at least SOME padding on it.
