As an update to this, I tried the amber bulbs in my turn signals.  As 
reported earlier,  there's not enough resistance to operate the turn 
signal flasher, so an electronic type would have to be used.  There 
really was no improvement in brightness anyway, just a lighter colored 
yellow.  Not worth it in my opinion. John Mitchell  76 TR6
