Alistair;

Yes. Sounds very interesting.  If you DO make a cover, as you're 
planning to, you could
make a spare, for me!  :- )

The cover seems like something that should just be a standard "optional" 
plate. Enough
of us use those plastic tranny covers and those wanting access to A or J 
type overdrives
and/or speedo drives would want cover plates for them, to make life 
easier for us, when
service time came...
