The frame needs to roll and be strong enough not to rack when moved. I've made bookshelves and entertainment centers with 3/4 melamine and threaded rod, but that's heavy and wobbly. Even 1/4 plywood tends to buckle and needs to have a finished edge. It'= s got to be a local code thing. My house in Illinois had a gas stove and it= s hood did not vent to the outside. So it's not a national thing.

You might look into DIY-ing t= he vent. I did mine and it was one of the easiest DIY things I've done = to the house.=C2=A0

If you're lucky = you have a good appliance store that can recommend one with the features = you're looking for.

Broan/Nutone is a good manufacturer with a large product = line. Years ago they made a model called the Allure, I had the Allure = III, and it was great for what it was. A quiet low, acceptable mid, and = a "sorry honey" high that cleared out the room but with a lot of noise. = I also had a 1100 CFM exterior wall mount that would suck the pots off = the stove but that was a $2000 Fantech unit.

Here in MA anything over = 400 CFM requires a makeup air vent to prevent sucking combustion fumes = back down the chimney.

Some appliances -- mostly big fancy faux commercial things -- require it as part of their installation instructions. (which technacially means it's required by code, because you're required to install them according to the manuracture's insturctions. ) Also, do not install a gas line until you have chosen a stove. There are locations required for the gas line and electrical connection, and you have them in the wrong place, you can't move the stove all the way back. Modern appliances are more restrictive about that than they used to be. I went through this myself this last summer. I recommend putting the gas valve in something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Sioux-Chief-696-1021GF-Box-Outlet/dp/B003QSPUEO instead of just sticking out the wall. It's also well within the capability of most people on the list. I never have, either. I know that if you run them dry they will wear a bit and get noisy but I've never had one fail. What are the symptoms?
