I have a 2009 Kawasaki KingQuad 750 that I use for work on my property.
It's garage kept and I had it since it was new. (so it's well taken care
of.)

Recently, I've had a problem with it starting and taking off (it has an
auto clutch and it dies when I try to put it under power.) A search on
the web has these problems listed from anything from a spark plug to a new
computer (and none seems to have enough followup to let me know what
works.)

It got really bad and a new battery and plug seemed to fix it. Problem
is, it's starting to happen again just a few months later.

Now, I really don't ever open the throttle up. It's mostly used at slow
speed or it's idling while I'm nearby. I'm guessing this is part of the
problem.

Since it's such a beast, opening it up full throttle would take a small
runway. I did make a race track in one of my fields to run it more, but I
was wondering if there was a better way.

SO, my questions are...

Is it my low speed/idling use that is causing the issue?

Is there something else I can do to keep it from happening?

Thanks in advance.

What's an Italian Service (don't worry, you can't offend me.)

Hmm. Maybe just a bad plug or a carbon track? Though low speeds and
idling are things I'd try to avoid.

I'm sure it's the same thing we did when we were teenagers and went
out on the back roads to blow the carbon out....

Usually called an "Italian Tuneup", in my experience.

The joke is, rich doctor/dentist/whatever leaves his Ferrari -- which
he only drives in traffic at slow speeds -- with a very expensive Italian
car specialty mechanic, and tells him it doesn't run right. Mechanic
"test drives" it around town at 6000 rpm ( like the valets in Ferris
Bueller ) and afterward, voila, it sings like it should again, and the
wrench gets paid for doing what most would pay to do.

do things get better if you close the choke some? that might mean that it's running lean and that could mean a clogged fuel line or carb.

Try putting a few drops of acetone per gallon of gasoline in the fuel. Mix well, serve at room temperature.

I have an idea that I was wondering if anyone could let me know their
opinion.

I have a large dual axle car trailer. I store it in a building and I need
a fork-lift to maneuver it into it's storage space.

I was wonder if I could use a set of car dollies (the ones that go under
the tires) to pull the trailer straight back onto them and the manually
push the trailer laterally into it's spot so I wouldn't need to use the
fork-lift.

Here are my concerns...

1 Getting the trailer on and off the dollies (do I need to jack it up or
can I drive them on them.)

2 What is a good set of dollies? (I only need to move it laterally, so I
don't need a set with casters, just the ones with the rollers should be
fine.)

3 Finally, the building has an asphalt floor. I would imagine that the
rollers would sink into them. So I would need to get them on a wood
plank. What is the minimum thickest of plank to prevent sinking, but easy
enough to roll the trailer onto?

Thanks!

Eric,

I don't know the details of how the trailer is maneuvered with the
forklift, but we had a "walker" for our travel trailer to fit it into
a tight storage spot. I can't find a picture, but it was like two
upside-down soup bowls connected on the top (bottom of the "bowl") by
square tubing. In the middle of the square tubing was a hitch ball.
A long pole fit in one end of the tubing. By manipulating the pole,
you could walk the two bowl "feet" and maneuver the trailer.

And then there's the two-wheel gadgets, like this:
http://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Accessories/MaxxTow/MT70225.html

Still need to go to all that trouble? Can you stick one corner where
it will end up, put a jack stand under it, and use a jack on the other
end to swing it in place?

I don't know of any car dollies that you can drive onto. The only
ones I know of that don't require jacking are go-jaks and their
clones. Go-jaks are great, but expensive. They, and all of the
dollies I am familiar with, have casters. I have never heard of
dollies with rollers. An asphalt floor would definitely be a problem
for most dollies with casters. Any with high quality casters are
awesome on a truly flat concrete floor. As the floor surface gets
rougher, they get much harder to use. Note, I said high quality
casters. Many dollies come with terrible casters, especially any of
the cheap Chinese ones.

For boat trailers I have used jacks like this:

https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Jack/Dutton-Lainson/DL22300.html

I have considered mounting another pair at the rear end of the
trailer for maneuvering in situations like yours. I haven't ever
tried it, though. They aren't too expensive, though, if you want to
give that a try. My trailer is open. This may not make sense for an
enclosed trailer.

People have been maneuvering trailers and cars using floor jacks for
ages. Of course, that doesn't work too well on a rough surface either.

I have an idea that I was wondering if anyone could let me know their =

I have a large dual axle car trailer. I store it in a building and I =
need a fork-lift to maneuver it into it's storage space.=20

I was wonder if I could use a set of car dollies (the ones that go under =
the tires) to pull the trailer straight back onto them and the manually =
push the trailer laterally into it's spot so I wouldn't need to use the =
fork-lift.=20

Here are my concerns...=20

1 Getting the trailer on and off the dollies (do I need to jack it up or =
can I drive them on them.)=20

2 What is a good set of dollies? (I only need to move it laterally, so =
I don't need a set with casters, just the ones with the rollers should =

easy enough to roll the trailer onto?=20

Jeff, thanks for the reply. I do have one of the wheeled dollies. The
problem is with a dual axle trailer, (and mine is pretty heavy) there is
no hope at all to turn it by hand. I use a hitch ball mounted on the end
of the forklift tine to push the trailer in place.

DING DING DING, we have winner! The Go-jacks solve the problem of the
tires sinking because I can 'release' them once the trailer is in place.

The only problem is, there are different models and styles of these things
(not to mention lots of competitors with identical models)

Which one do I get? Where is a good place to buy these from?

I looked for pics of ones with rollers and I can't find them. Ironically,
I sold a pair a few years ago before I thought of using them this way.

I don't know of any car dollies that you can drive onto. The only ones I
know of that don't require jacking are go-jaks and their clones. Go-jaks
are great, but expensive. They, and all of the dollies I am familiar
with, have casters. I have never heard of dollies with rollers. An
asphalt floor would definitely be a problem for most dollies with casters.
Any with high quality casters are awesome on a truly flat concrete floor.
As the floor surface gets rougher, they get much harder to use. Note, I
said high quality casters. Many dollies come with terrible casters,
especially any of the cheap Chinese ones.

For boat trailers I have used jacks like this:

https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Jack/Dutton-Lainson/DL22300.html

I have considered mounting another pair at the rear end of the trailer for
maneuvering in situations like yours. I haven't ever tried it, though.
They aren't too expensive, though, if you want to give that a try. My
trailer is open. This may not make sense for an enclosed trailer.

People have been maneuvering trailers and cars using floor jacks for ages.
Of course, that doesn't work too well on a rough surface either.

Just another quick note. I have not bought GoJacks in quite a few years. Pre
Amazon.com

Just checked on Amazon and they are cheaper there from different vendors.

And I have used and bought their imitators, I have not had much success with
those. But that was years ago.

Give Griots Garage a try. They use to have a set like GoJacks and he
guarantees his stuff. If you don't like it or they break, he makes it good.

Again, no connection with Griots, just that I have had good service from
them

Can you save 50% by securing one axle in place while it's on the
ground? Chain it up or something? Then when you lift the trailer by
the other axle, it will come up with it. You'd only need two wheel
jacks instead of four.

You just need a flag on the chain so you remember to remove it when
you get ready to pull the trailer...

A few weeks ago I asked about the wheel dollies and got some great
answers.

I spoke with a buddy of mine today that told me the Harbor Freight ones
were nearly identical to the go-wheels one. Then he stated there was a
super coupon for them for $70 a piece.

I got home and checked my recent catalog and there they were.

I just ordered 4 of them for total (with shipping and tax) of $304.

I'll let you know how they work when I get them.

The coupon is actually for Black friday, but when I called I just stated
that my local store doesn't normally carry 4 at a time. They gave me the
price now, over the phone. I should have them before black friday, so I
hope I can tell you how they work before then.

BTW, the coupon is for ...

item # 62234 61917 the bar code is 52896280

Here is the link to the normal priced item here...

The actual go-jacks are superior, at least compared to what HF was
selling a couple years ago. I'm sure they'll hold up to the sort of
usage you're planning. (the Go-Jacks have better casters, better
paint, and generally better finish. They live a hard life when
they're mounted on the body of a wrecker, and need it.)
