I've already got a Mustang IFS installed with the standard Chevy five bolt
pattern and want the rear to match. I haven't learned anyway to convert the
stock six lug rear end to five lug. I'd certainly consider keeping the stock

My =9254 is completely disassembled right now. The frame is bare, cab is on=
a rotisserie, bed is in pieces, and the motor is covered up on the shop fl=
oor. The =9267 C20 I have is a rust bucket. I had planned to rebuild both b=
ut I=92ve been thinking of using the 292 from the C20 in the =9254 3100. If=
I do that I=92ll probably just part out the =9267.

I agree that as long as you don=92t drop that major cast iron on your foot =
you are not hurting anybody putting a V-8 in your truck. (If you didn=92t =
you would be saying to yourself =93I coulda had a V8!! =97I=92ll be here al=

Happy November!

follow this link and scroll way down for lots of rearend info
http://www.chevytrucks.org/tech/ifs&rearend.htm
looks like the 47-55.1 rearend is 60'' wide only 2'' narrower than the
55.2-59 trucks at 62''

i run a gen3 trans am rearend that is 61.5'' in my 58 w/ 3.27 gear, disc
brakes and posi
however... because i am lowered with the mustII, rear axle flipped on top
of the springs with wider wheels and tires
i have a hard time getting my rear tires off. it requires jacking the frame
not the axle
and wiggling the tire out from in between the hub and fender, not pretty
but no damage yet :)

if your rear axle is 60'' wide i recommend going with a 58'' max width axle
just to avoid my problem
if you plan on lowering your truck, since you have the mustII i figure it's
lower than stock
if you want high mpg then go with a a 3.25 to 3.50 ratio, lower than 3.00
you may loose the power band

as for your trans, definitely go with the 700r4, though the 200r4 is just
as good
with the 700r4, 3.27 ratio and 350 sbc i get 20 mpg on the highway
i do have the gm ramjet 350 (350hp and 400 ftlb) so my power band is a
little better than most sbc
i can still burn the tires thru 3 gears if i want to
