It has a large weight on one side. I have look at all the pictures of the sprocket that I could find like in the book "Tuning Rover V8 engines" by David Hardcastle and from other parts sellers and their sprockets don't have that weight on one side. That weight unbalance the sprocket and the cam shaft. The sprocket is standard nylon and is for my 1981 TR8 FI 3.5. Is this sprocket good or wrong for my engine? Lasts longer, good for higher revs, and is not that expensive. Your friendly auto parts store should be able to hook you up with the complete setup. That is how I went on my 3.5, and comparing the OE style components to the Edlebrock stuff is like comparing rotting garbage to a fresh cooked gourmet meal. Hummm, must be supper time! Hi folks... a college has just called me and asked if i'm hoarding one. Of course i am not but out of interest i did a Google and found virtually nothing. It's to replace one that broke in a competition sprint-car engine (read to build another engine with). Hardcastle says in his book "'Tuning Rover V8 Engines' that no one has ever made a forged steel crank and anything available is machined billet. He mentions a firm Laystall Engineering. We're in New Zealand so if anyone has one in this hemisphere of the world they'd like to sell would be helpful too to keep shipping costs down.
