Jill and I had to wait for Mother Nature to finish dumping .7" of rain at our house, but the parking lot had approximately 75+ cars when we arrived. We were there until the next wave of rain looked to be upon us, about 8:15PM, and left with several others not wanting to get caught with our tops down. During the time we were there, we had plenty of time to walk around and check out the other "cruisers." HINT: We will throw in our folding chairs for the next one. There were actually four (4) British cars, amongst the Detroit iron. A very nice MGTF, nice job, Darren, two Midgets, a nice red one, sorry I didn't get your name, and a white one, and our Sunbeam Alpine. All four cars drew a lot of attention, if for no other reason that they were different. The next Cruise In, is this coming Wednesday, July 8, at Club 90 in Sandy. The club's address is 9065 S. 150 West. It is back in from the intersection of 90th S. and 150 West, on the SE corner. The time is usually from 6-9PM, but there were no times given on the schedule. Disclaimer: This is not a BMCU event and is posted here merely as a fun thing to do on a warm Summer night. A chance for everyone to get out of the house and DRIVE our cars. I am not associated with the event in any way other than encouraging BMCU people to come out for a Summer cruise. Yes folks,it's time once again for the British to retake trappers rights and leave our oil spots in Weber & Ogden Canyons. Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 11th. We will meet once again at the east end of the Hogle Zoo parking lot between 9:00-9:30 AM for a departure shortly thereafter. We'll cruise up Emigration Canyon over to East Canyon and down into Morgan where we'll stretch our legs and grab a drink/snack at the Phillip's station and then head on up to Mountain Green. We will then take SR-226 (provided it is clear and open) up past SnowBasin, then down the canyon on the greatest road for our LBC's around, where we will come out at Pine View Reservoir and then down Ogden Canyon where we will again this year enjoy some fantastic outdoor fare at The Oaks eatery and parking lot repair!! Actually I can assure you that there is plenty going on behind the scenes. First allow me to introduce myself, my name is Duff Lawson and I am the new Governor General. For those of you that I have met I hope you will support me in this new task and for those of you that I have not yet met, I hope that we do so soon on one of the clubs many driving events. So let me tell you a bit about my background. I bought my first LBC just out of college in 1976, a 1968 BRG MGC-GT and I still own it. I did not go on the first Alpine Loop drive but I did join the club latter that summer. I made the drawing for the Club patch which is now used on the flag, lapel pins, car badges, decals, etc. I have also been a Board Member for about the last four years. I believe I have a real vested interest in seeing the Club prosper. To that end, I would like to thank the Board Members and Club Officers who have all agreed to continue in their current capacities for another year. I also want to thank Drew Frink for accepting the position of Webmaster and Larry Farrington for accepting a brand new club position of Lieutenant Governor. This new position is very important for the future of the club and insures that there is continuity and leadership into the future. Please take a moment at an event to congratulate the newbiebs and thank the oldsters for their service. That brings me to the next issue, the desperate need for a Newsletter Editor. This is a very important Club position and it is imperative that it be filled soon. With the depth of knowledgeable people we have in this Club, surely there is someone who has fancied themselves a wordsmith and longs to be a publisher. Perhaps the spouse of a member would be interested. Please consider this position carefully, the publishing software is included. Next up I want to thank all of the brave souls who dared the showers and came out for the British Field Day. This has always been my favorite event and I have been on the planning committee for all of its 18 years. I am always happy to see a good turnout and this one challenged us with the worst weather that we have ever had! There are pictures on the Club website, check them out. The next Club event is the Trappers Loop drive. Thank Clayton Merchant for being the organizerfor this event and it sounds like he has the route verified and everything ready to go. Unfortunately a family trip means that I will not be able to attend but I hope that those who do have a beautiful and uneventful drive! Happy motoring to all, and to all a good night. _______________________________________________ Bmcu mailing list Bmcu@autox.team.net http://autox.team.net/mailman/listinfo/bmcu From bmcu-bounces@autox.team.net Fri Jul 10 19:15:01 2009 From: Gary Chidester To: Bmcu@autox.team.net Date: Fri, 10 Jul 2009 19:14:30 -0600 Subject: [Bmcu] Thanks! Your fearless master of things web has been hard at work on our new club website -- yes, I should have been out in the garage finishing up the Bugeye, but this web project needed to get done! Our new site uses a modern web back end (WordPress) that really helps make keeping the site updated a breeze. One thing you may notice is that the site is now redirected to bmcu.drooartz.com -- this is a temporary solution, hosting the site on a server I control until we can get a few updates done to the main BMCU server. So don't be surprised if you notice that the address has changed. Our URL is still www.britishmotorclub.org and will remain so. You'll also notice that most of the content from the old site has made the transition, with the appropriate reformatting for the new site. I'm still working on getting the newsletters and old events linked up to the new site, and should have those done in the next couple of days. The new site takes advantage of modern Blog technology -- the home page will now feature a series of articles that encompass our ride reports, news items, product reviews, and all sorts of other content. So keep an eye on our site, and let me know if you have any suggestions.
