From bmcu-bounces@autox.team.net Fri Feb 8 18:28:33 2008 From: Gary Lindstrom To: BMCU Membership Date: Fri, 08 Feb 2008 18:28:40 -0700 Subject: [Bmcu] reminder: annual meeting and potluck Saturday night 6pm Potluck Dinner and Annual Meeting February 9, 2008 OK folks, time to dust off the cookbooks and get ready to show off your culinary skills! It's time for the BMCU membership to gather to feast and to scheme! That means besides bringing along your favorite dish, we would like to hear your ideas and hopes for the coming year. This is the time for sitting down and planning out a years worth of activities and fun for all of us. We had a great year in 2007 and I know we can do even better in 2008 (sounding a bit like a politician there, sorry). This is also the time we can elect (volunteer/Shanghai) new BMCU officers. I am currently researching the creation of an official BMCU ball cap. The BMCU logo would be embroidered on the front and (this is where you come in) on the back we'd like something witty, such as Going Topless in the Rockies or something fun. I'd like you to bring your ideas to the dinner and we can vote for the best one -- with the first hat going to the suggestion winner. Also this year I am working on a display of information that pertains our cars. I am contacting parts vendors and business' that can help us in our quest for LBC performance and reliability. The display is open to local folks to bring info along too! We are always open to ways to help each other out. There will also be door prizes. Everyone at the dinner will receive a ticket for a chance to win something (sorry, no new Jags or Mini's from the dealer). This will not be a raffle sale, just a way to make the evening a bit more interesting. Make a note on your calendar: February 9th 6:00pm, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 261 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. --Mitch Johnson _______________________________________________ Bmcu mailing list Bmcu@autox.team.net http://autox.team.net/mailman/listinfo/bmcu From bmcu-bounces@autox.team.net Sat Feb 9 13:25:33 2008 From: Jon Zaremba To: Bmcu@autox.team.net Date: Sat, 09 Feb 2008 13:25:07 -0700 Subject: [Bmcu] 18k TR6 in Ogden I just noticed this while browsing...not my car... http://ogden.craigslist.org/car/557363100.html Jon Zaremba 79 MG B _______________________________________________ Bmcu mailing list Bmcu@autox.team.net http://autox.team.net/mailman/listinfo/bmcu From bmcu-bounces@autox.team.net Sat Feb 9 22:10:12 2008 From: Mark J Bradakis To: bmcu@autox.team.net Date: Sat, 09 Feb 2008 22:12:21 -0700 Subject: [Bmcu] Where were you? Pretty small turnout for tonight's BMCU dinner. Maybe 20 folks or so. Perhaps it was the warming weather, and most folks were trying to dig out their British car and get it running for the trip to the dinner. Oh well, we did rough out a schedule for the upcoming year, a more thorough report and a photo or two will likely be forthcoming. And I'll be sending off a note about another social event shortly after I finish this missive. mjb. _______________________________________________ Bmcu mailing list Bmcu@autox.team.net http://autox.team.net/mailman/listinfo/bmcu From bmcu-bounces@autox.team.net Sat Feb 9 22:12:19 2008 From: Mark J Bradakis To: bmcu@autox.team.net Date: Sat, 09 Feb 2008 22:14:28 -0700 Subject: [Bmcu] Party time! Yikes, well into February and finally getting around to an announcement about the annual Fat Chance Garage Beach Party. Coming right up, the festivities are planned for Saturday evening, Feb. 23rd, starting about 7 pm. While years past have often seen a unifying theme of some sort to the gathering, this year you are on your own for inspiration. Head down to the thrift store for that perfectly tacky, shapeless, floral motif garment. Grab some garish shades at the dollar store, dig out that floppy old sun hat you'd swear you'd never wear in public and prep yourself for a grand old time once again. Don't worry, there won't be a Beach Boys karaoke contest - at least not THIS year! As usual, bring a potluck dish of some sort to share if so inclined, adult beverages and whatever special soft drinks the kids want. Who knows what the weather will be like that evening, but maybe we'll provide some slow smoked pulled pork, or brisket, or perhaps a pot of chicken-habanero chili. We shall see. That possibly could be just a bit of dirt or "flash rust" from moisture in the air that has bound up the starter Bendix (assuming original type starter here). It's worth pulling the starter and cleaning the drive as necessary, but don't lubricate it once clean (except maybe sparingly with a dry graphite type of lubricant)!
