I sent mine to Looper in Pennsylvania, not cheap, but a Damn nice job, I
don't like taking chances with Gasoline.

Arch,
You might want to get some opinions on tank sealers. Some just make a huge
mess of things. I know there are some good ones, I just haven't found
those. You might check with Eastwood. The key to a good seal is the inside
of the tank must be flawless. Otherwise the stuff just peals off and makes
a mess.

Arch,
It is possible to fix that pickup tube. The tube should be soldiered or
brazed in place. A creative radiator shop should be able to remove the tube
and then install a new tube.
Another option is to abandon that pickup and have a radiator shop install a
threaded bushing (a drain fitting from a radiator is exactly when you want)
in the top of the tank. the position should be like the picture. From
there you can attach a tube to a fitting. Be sure to cut the bottom of the
tube at a 45 degree angle and also keep the tube at least 1/4 inch from the
bottom of the tank. If the tank has the screen filter be sure to position
the new draw tube so it mates up with the screen.
While that tank is out it will be worth while to clean out any rust or
accumulated guck.

This is the way the parts book says the gas tank should be set up. However,
my Magnette doesn't have the banjo nut on the top of the tank for gas line.
My tank has a rubber hose located approx 1 1/2 inches under the large rubber
filler tube for gas line that goes to the fuel pump. This afternoon I
replaced the fuel pump ( which was a waste of time and energy).
Disconnecting the fuel line from tank should have spilled out a bit of gas.
Nothing. Blowing into gas line I could hear air entering gas tank....
Filter not clogged ( if there is one). So.... The pickup tube in the tank
must be loose/goofed up. Has anyone replaced/ repaired this pickup? Hate
to go in completely blind. Arch
