Join WPTA East on September 19 for The Roads I Love Tour, a 60-mile drive t=
hrough some of the finest roads Westmoreland County has to offer. Expect sw=
eeping backroads, rolling hills, and classic Western PA scenery that makes =
this route a favorite. Easy to follow instructions with miles and driver ac=
tions will be included, so take your time and enjoy the ride.
There will be a mid-run rest stop at the Conemaugh Dam, where you'll have t=
he chance to explore several unique features of the area's industrial and s=
cenic landscape: The stone arch bridge, The modern steel bridge, The abando=
ned tunnels tucked into the hillside. All three are visible within the dam'=
s dramatic mix of nature and infrastructure - a short walk and a great phot=
o opportunity.
Our final destination, will be The Forks Inn (3819 State Route 711, Ligonie=
r, PA). As many of you know from past stops here, The Forks Inn has excelle=
nt food, cold beverages, and a relaxed atmosphere. Ample parking is availab=
le.
After your meal, I would highly recommend you take the 5 minutes and drive =
through historic town of Ligonier where there is so much to see and do.
