A few weeks ago I asked subscribers about a mailing list intended for the
more commercial types of postings to the various lists. The initial response
was quite favorable. I actually set it up shortly after the initial query,
and it already has a dozen or two subcribers. They probably got the intro file
from the MG or Triumph list, which may have been confusing. This message
constitutes the official announcement.

If you want to subscribe, send mail to

  majordomo@autox.team.net

with nothing but the words

  subscribe autojumble

or

  subscribe autojumble-digest

as the body of the message.

Like the other lists with a digest option, the digest is just the day's
collection of email sent out as one big file. Same content, different
format.

There won't be any mail from new the list for a while, perhaps this upcoming
weekend. I'll be in California for about 48 of the next 72 hours, so I
won't be doing much list admin work, such as approving posts to the new
autojumble list.

While one can certainly think of the new list as sort of an on-line Hemmings,
this does not mena that ALL for sale postings need to go to it. The autojumble
list will no doubt have subscribers from the Riley, the Mini, the autocross
list and others. They may not all be interested in, say, an NOS TR-4 surrey
top for $100. So if you are just an individual with an item or two that you'd
like to send off to a good home, feel free to post a for sale message to the
appropriate list.

Below is the intro file that will get sent to new subscribers or those who
send an info command to majordomo. We'll see how the new list works out,
hope it is a benefit to all. Perhaps it will be great right out of the box,
perhaps it may need some fine tuning down the road.

autojumble@autox.team.net is a mailing list intended primarily for the
distribution of commercial messages related to the automotive mailing lists
here at autox.team.net. Such messages are inappropriate for any of the
regular automotive related mailing lists served from this site.

This list is moderated, which means that all submissions sent to it are
screened by the list manager. Basically the screening consists of just
checking to see if the message is appropriate for the target audience,
and possible reformatting or editing of poorly constructed text.

If you have something which you would like to be distributed to this mailing
list, send your mail to

    autojumble@autox.team.net

Due to the moderated nature of the list, there will likely be a delay before
you see your post sent to the list, varying from minutes to days, depending
on the workload of the moderator.

Like many other lists served from autox.team.net, this one, in both regular
and digest form, continue to exist through the volunteer efforts of the
list manager, Mark J. Bradakis, mjb@autox.team.net. The list manager retains
the right to make any and all changes to list content, membership and policies,
including dissolution of the list, at any time as he sees fit.

To unsubscribe from autojumble, send only the following in the body (not
the subject line) of an email message to "majordomo@autox.team.net":

        unsubscribe autojumble

or

        unsubscribe autojumble-digest

This will unsubscribe the account from which you send the message.

If you get the reply back that you are not a member of autojumble or
autohumble-digest, then you may want to use majordomo's 'which' command
to see what address majordomo used to put you on the list. For instance, if
you tell folks your address is

   gradual_student@diploma.mill.edu

but your mail headers really claim your messages are from

   az385@labboxN.diploma.mill.edu

You may need to send majordomo@autox.team.net the command

   which diploma.mill

Then, if majordomo sends back a note saying that

     az385@mailhub.diploma.mill.edu

is on the list autojumble-digest, you'll have to send the command

     unsubscribe autojumble-digest az385@mailhub.diploma.mill.edu

When you send some other request which majordomo doesn't understand to
the majordomo@autox.team.net address, you should get back a help file
explaining the commands majordomo does understand.
