Mike, I'm glad you came and glad you follow this sport. It is not static and
the mix of the cars and people change all the time, as much as I pine for
the "good old days." <very big grin>

The combined value for the Ferrari cars in attendance is based on the fact
that no Series 1 250 GTO's have been sold other than by private treaty for
several years and the most recent I know of sold for between $23M and $25M
to racer in the Pacific Northwest for use in the Ferrari Historic Challenge.

With the volatility in the financial markets and the great growth in wealth
of the very rich, these cars have now assumed "art object" status and are
considered safe places to "park" money.

It is our great fortune that there are still wonderful collectors and racers
like Anthony and Lulu Wang, Bob Bodin, John Giordano, Jim and Sandra McNeil
and Robert Dusek (and that's just SOME of the extraordinary East Coast
crowd) that have owned these cars for a LONG time and choose to share them
with us.

The 250 GT LWB Interim (looks like a 250 GT SWB with a quarter window) is
right at $3.5M and a comp SWB like the one present sold recently for $6.5M,
hence a $33M-$35M total. Of course, add the Maserati 300S on for another $3M
and there's no debate! <grin>

See you at Mid-Ohio. I'll be the one in the paddock in a tie...
