I never gave any thought to my watch being a "heat sink", but any watch would be one. My greatest concern was having the watch get in my way in one of my "tight situations". I never looked at my watch. It was buried under my gloves and suit. Keeping it on while on the track was no more than avoiding losing it if taken on and off!
