Laguna is tough because the sound readings can vary. What worked in the
morning may not work in the afternoon! I race as often as I can at
Laguna and have seen many a competitor say they will never race there
again with sound restrictions in place. A typical race weekend is 2
practices and 2 races. If you get Black flagged for sound you have to
come in and by then the session is essentially over. I pay too much to
race considering my time preparing the car and entry, as a result I over
muffle my car so I do not have to worry about sound. Yes, I give up a
little power (probably not as much as I think) but my car willing, I
expect to be out for the entire time for all 4 sessions.

One of the few times I ever led a race was when the leader (after 2
laps) got the Black flag, leaving me with P1! He was very disappointed
as he had screwed around with his car all weekend and made sound in the
morning practice only to get Black Flagged in the afternoon while
leading! Figure out a good quiet muffler system, and you can
concentrate on your driving while your competitors lift going up the
hill or end up cursing the sound folks all weekend.
