Lotus 7 S1 Clamshell Wing Brackets

These came off an S1 with clamshell wings:

Anybody ever seen these anywhere else? They are
slightly different to those shown on the S1 America on
the cover of Sports Cars Illustrated June 1960 (again
from the Lotus Seven Register site
http://www.lotus7register.co.uk/images/marketng/series1/s55.jpg),
but they are vastly different than those on the
standard S2 with clamshells. 

I am trying to determine if they were supplied this
way by Lotus or if they were cobbled up over here on
my side of the pond.
