Your best bets for a "real" vintage tire for the Midget will be the Dunlop
"M" section or the Goodyear Blue Streak.  The Goodyears are made in the same
molds, the same tread patterns AND compound as they were "back in the day".
They will be a bit slower than the Hoosiers, Kumhos & Yokos.  IMO, the best
compromise for small bore cars is the Hoosier A70TD.  They are bias ply
tires with good grip and predictability.  Inexpensive and on a 1500lb small
bore car will easily hold up for 8-10 weekends.  The GRM article showed them
to be significantly slower than the Kumho but that difference is magnified
by a heavier car with more power.  Small bore cars will run closer times on
differing tires.
