In the early 1960's? I always thought that radial tires were a more recent
advancement in tire construction. I am very interested in when they
entered routine use.
Re: Hoosiers... Once I got accustomed to them, I really like them. There
is this moment of transition entering a corner that is more pronounced than
with a radial, but I find the drifting and breakaway characteristics quite
satisfying. I can understand why the corner entry behavior would be
somewhat unsettling, especially in a rear engined Porsche. But, I would
venture to say that there is a better chance of catching a slide with the
hoosier than with some of the radials.
