I'm thinking about adding an alternator to my car. I happen to have a new
Bosch alternator in the shop, it seems to need a charging light to excite
the coils (sounds slightly rude). I've heard also of one-wire alternators
that self-excite.
Question is should/could I use the Bosch unit, what are the drawbacks of
having the light, and how do you deal with the battery cut-off switch in
each type of system?
