I'm sure you will get a lot of answers you'll have to sift through, so here's 
mine to add to the pile:  The flow bench
tests I have done indicate that the flow through stock carburetors is not the 
constriction. It is elsewhere in the intake
system. Larger carbs will probably make the car more sluggish at low speed and 
not help anything at high speed.
