Many of you will have heard by now that Ernie Mendicki passed away this
morning at about 7:00 AM. Erine was fine New Years Eve, and the day after.
He awoke with chest pain Wednesday. He was admitted to Stanford Hospital
Wednesday afternoon but died suddenly of heart failure early Thursday
morning.

Ernie was a car guy. This summer he had completed the collection of cars
which he regarded as his life's work with the addition of the Lozier he had
desired for more than 40 years. He had planned many more years of active
participation in vintage racing and in car tours like the California Mille
or the Colorado Grand. Ernie was a walking encyclopedia of information about
cars he loved all his life. Whether the subject was Model T's or Ferrari's
his knowledge was comprehensive, and his reputation was world wide.

Ernie was a good friend to many, many people.

Mary Lou says that Ernie wished that his ashes be returned to Wallace Idaho,
where he was born, and where of recent years they had acquired some
property. No funeral is planned but Mary Lou will have a get together in
celebration of Ernie's life toward the end of January.

Sadly,
Harlan
