today as the result of my constant search for hillclimb items from the
hillclimbs of pennsylvania and surrounding states i recieved a very tiny but
neat treasure. from the south arrived a match book from giants despair
hillclimb. it is dated july 27-28 1962. what is neat is inside it has "if
you missed the giants despair hill climb - don't miss the weatherly hill
climb oct 13-14 1962" it has had only 1 match struck in the book of
matches and is in mint condition. this may seem a bit triffle , as it is
only a book of matches. but what makes it really neat is it came out of
the door pocket of a mgtd that a fellow bought to restore. did that car
participate or was it one of the spectator's cars? we may never know? but
it did yeild a little piece of racing history that it had hidden for 39
years. the bits and pieces of history are out there. now all i have to
do is continue to be at the right spot at the right time! (hey! i'm a
dreamer.......)

chuck.
