Back when I was a young struggling vintage racer, I used a 20 year old 1970
Mercedes as a tow vehicle. One race, I had everything loaded to go when I
noticed that the front trunnion on one side had about an inch of play in it
- a king pin bushing had broken up. Found it at 4:00 pm, and had swapped
out the entire corner and was on the road at 6:00 pm. Lucky I had a spare
car (that time included wacking the spare corner off the spare car , where
it was gainfully employed holding up the spare front end...
