The few times a decade or so ago I ran my wife's front wheel drive Honda in
an autocross or two, with Yoko 8Rs, I put something like 44 psi in the fronts,
36 in the rear. Not quite your situation. I would say start with about 32
psi in the front, and 3 - 4 pounds less in the rear. Do a few laps, make a
mental note of how the car seems to behave, come in and put some air in the
rears to make them about 3 or 4 psi higher than the fronts. Go out again and
see what happens. You mention temperatures, so if you have a pyrometer handy,
you'll likely zero in on the optimum more quickly.

Basically, one uses tire pressures to fine tune the setup of the car. Spring
rates, front to rear weight balance, sway bar sizes, your driving style are
all factors that may bear more weight in the equation than tire pressures.
You and your driving style may need more oversteer, or maybe some understeer
to combat the twitchiness, or ???

With a rear drive car of the Cortina's weight, the Yoko radials will likely
be best off in the mid 30s on both ends, with the end getting the most air
depending on different factors, as referenced above.

This is all just hearsay. If you and that damn guardrail have an intimate
affair, I don't want to hear about it.
