Not to take anything away from the gracious hospitality of Vaughn and Vintage
Garage, but the $250 entry fee (if received by May 27) for the VIR Reunion
June 9-11, 2000, includes tickets to Harvey's cocktail bash under the covered
paddock Friday night and two tickets to the Banquet honoring the past drivers
of VIR on Saturday night.
Carroll Shelby, who won the first feature race, may be there. The first race
winner Ed Hugus (factory driver for Ferrari and Cobra) and the first
sportsracer winner Doc Wylie (a factory driver for Lotus) will be there.
Among the other alums expected are Dr. Dick Thompson, Charlie Kolb, Hurley
Haywood, Bob Leitzinger, Peter Vander Vate, Amos Johnson, Skip Callanan, Peg
Wylie, Hugh Kleinpeter and Charlie Gibson. (BTW -- Hugh and Charlie still
hold lap records at VIR.)
