1998 SVRA Supplemental Regulations and Class List
Competition Group Four
(updated 1/26/98)
1. Eligibility: Limited produced sports cars, racing "specials" and GT cars
built or in production prior to 1960. Other cars by invitation.
2. Background and philosophy: Group Four consists mainly of sports cars that
represent the ‘Golden Age’ of sports car racing in the USA and Europe. Since
development and technology progressed quite rapidly after 1960, this group is
limited to cars that were in production by the end of 1959. Certain
"continuation" cars may be accepted with prior approval.
3. Modifications: Since these cars mostly raced in open categories, there will
be a lot of variations within a particular make and model that are period
correct. Group Four cars are expected to have only period (pre-1960) equipment
and specifications. It is the responsibility of a competitor to provide
documentation for any specification that is not generally considered
appropriate.
4. Approved tires: Dunlop: any L-series (204 or 484 compound) These tires must
be used as supplied and may not be modified by grooving or shaving. Any other
tire must be pre-approved and will only be considered in special cases.
5. Cars denoted with (*) are classified by potential rather than displacement
only.
