The VSCCA has learned that Luigi Villoresi, the great Italian Grand Prix
driver who campaigned for Maserati, Ferrari, Lancia and other works
teams between 1936 and 1956 lies ill and destitute at his home in Italy.
Villoresi was twice champion of Italy during the 1940s and won the first
postwar British Grand Prix at Silverstone in 1948. He was mentor to
Alberto Ascari, who would become World Champion in 1952 and 1953. Cards
