Hello Everyone,
I may have the opportunity to purchase some MiniLite wheels today (in 5
hours from now - 10:15 am PST). They are magnesium, 13 X 6, 4 on
4.25 bolt pattern, with alloy lug nuts, and appear to be in excellent shape
(powder coated to slow the deterioration/oxidation of the magnesium). I
have seen several sets of claimed "MiniLite's" recently, and have yet to
have anyone tell me, conclusively, how to tell if they are indeed original.
Some say that "all real MiniLites have the name MiniLite cast into them,
and most often the date of manufacture too." Where as others say
"well, some of the castings had MiniLite cast into them, and others didn't."
The wheels in question do not have the word "MiniLite" cast into them
anywhere. So far, most people tend to think that if the wheels are
indeed magnesium and the lugs are alloy, they are probably real
MiniLite's. Does anyone know what else I might be able to look for to tell
if they are real? Any incite would be greatly appreciated.
Chad Raynal
PS - If it's of any interest, if they are purchased, they will be going on a
Sunbeam Tiger.
