Many state tourism boards have recognized that Rt. 66 is a draw worth the =
investment of a few signs.=C2=A0 Some sites have been declared Historic and=
many of the rural routes are still used by locals.=C2=A0 The good part is =
that most of the traffic has been diverted to the interstates so traffic is=
light.=C2=A0 And many business owners capitalize on the historic nature of=
the businesses that date back to the era.
But many stretches were plowed under for the interstate and other stretches=
are dead-ends which means if there is a time schedule these get skipped.
But the continued survival is based on the level of tourism so get out ther=
e is tour!

I'm just glad some of it is preserved... our car group has (naturally since=
we are in AZ) driven the western stretches.
While we were having lunch at the Roadkill in Seligman, a local invited us =
to see some cars he had for sale:

That's a Magnette & and an MGB - the rest (12 or so) were American classics=
..
The Wigwam in Holbrook keeps some old American Iron in the lot but it reall=
y looks good when we add our British cars:

The old store in Hackberry is a mandatory stop:

Here's that section from Kingman to Oatman that Dave mentioned:

Looking at the photos I see I haven't been along there since 2010 -- I thin=
k I am ready for a return visit.=C2=A0 Anyone interested in a Route 66 driv=
