Seems to me that anyone with a modicum of skills and a few woodworking tools
could fabricate one of those things and save $25.00.

I had one with a previous car, and it worked great! I am sorry you have had
a bad experience. I thought it was a great tool, and prevented damage to
the knock offs. thank you for the link.

Dave -

It is Moss p/n 386-165 and, in my opinion, a waste of money. I have
witnessed many of these fail in normal use.

http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=31760
<http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=31760&SortOrd
er=10> &SortOrder=10

I have a purpose-made aluminum socket for the wires on my other (52mm
knock-offs) car as it can be troublesome, but never had to get any tool for
the TRs.

For any wires it is hard to beat (pun intended) a big lead hammer.

I use a 6 lb hammer from Zoro tools -- I don't so much swing it as raise it
up and aim as it comes back down.

Doesn't take very many licks with that bad boy to get the nut loose.
