Johnnie -

I would suspect that the seal at the end of the piston assembly is leaking
- a common failure that results in ineffective clutch but no leaking
fluid.  That seal is what is supposed to keep fluid (fluif) from being
pushed back into the reservoir (and thus causes pressure to move the
slave).  Item 28 in this drawing:

The seal (like a little cap) is a part of the usual rebuild kit.
