Hmm, seems like my original post didn't show up.  Apologies if this is a
duplicate.

I like to use Permatex #3 (aka "Aviation Form-A-Gasket") on the seat in the
block, and on the ledge where the "Fig 8" gasket sits.  That's reasonably
close to the Wellseal the book calls for.  
I believe you can get genuine Wellseal @ TRF, but the Permatex has always
worked for me.
