They are the joint between the steering arm and the steering rod, and the  
idler arm and the steering rod.  They are a taper pin that is bonded inside  a 
steel bush with rubber so that when you turn the steering wheel the taper pin  
twists the rubber inside the steel bush and allows the steering to  function.
