You have a swing-axle rear, not the IRS, right?  What all else have 
you removed?  The thing is, those studs on the diff don't hold the 
diff up.  They hold the spring down.  The diff is held at the front 
by two bolts which go vertically through two ears which have rubber 
bushings, and at the rear by a 10" (more or less) long bolt that runs 
laterally.  If its bushings in the diff mounts have rusted to that 
bolt, that bolt can be a royal pain to remove.
