Dear Bill,

Thanks very much indeed for that tip for dealing with the purists - it
may come in handy at some point in the near future... Actually, from
what I have gathered from initial reading, there were numerous
alterations made by BL to the Honda design to make the car more
acceptable to British buyers, and, in effect, to make it worthy of the
Triumph badge: most notably twin carbs, and a completely new (and much
more luxurious) interior. The Acclaim may not fall into the same
category as a TR3, or even a TR7 - but then, nor does the Toledo or the
Herald. It says Triumph on the grille (and on the boot lid, and on the
steering wheel, and on the AM Radio-Cassette player) - that's good
enough for me. :-)

That is what I was afraid of. I suspect that main dealers may still
have the odd NOS part in their stores, but that these will be few and
far between by now. Give it another ten years, and the Usual Suspects
will probably have a complete range of spares for these things. Rimmers
have been offering a Rover SDI catalogue for a few years now - can the
Acclaim be far behind?

That's good to know.

What a super website! Many thanks for that link.

I'm not a Club Triumph member, and I gave up on the TSSC website when I
clicked on the link to the Acclaim model range, and found a blank page
headed "Herald Model Range"... I shall have to go back and find the
forum. Again, many thanks for the info.
