My 1960 Land Rover has a fuel tank under the driver's seat and one under 
the passenger seat.  2 door models were made with at least one tank 
under a seat at least though 1984.  I learned to drive in a Ford pickup 
with the fuel tank right behind the back of the driver's seat.
