Bill:
Those tools just do not work well with our British cars (I've tried using
one on the TR6 and the TR3, neither with any success). The best way I have
used is to drill three evenly spaced holes into the metal face of the seal,
using an 1/8" or so bit. Then screw into the holes metal screws that will
give a tight fit, leaving at least 1/2 of the screw exposed. Using vice
grips or some other clamping device, clamp one of the screw heads and tap
the device with a hammer, so has to pull back on the screw. Do this
repeatedly, moving from one screw to the next so you slowly pull out the
seal with the force of the blows pulling on the screws. Worked like a
charm.

What is the trick to remove the old oil seal from the
differential pinion shaft on a TR6 ??? I bought one of those "oil
seal removal" tools, kinda looks like a skinny hammer with hooks on
both ends, but the &*&())** thing won't budge the seal... and this
was going to be an easy job ... yeah... right ...
