Man, am I glad you said that. I thought I am the only one.

I recently got a notice of a class action against a certain insurance cmpany
for not paying claims properly. If that is the case, I might be out many bucks
over what I did get paid, but I am not sure.

If I elected to participate I wound be entitled to the princely sum of TEN
DOLLARS! Yes, TEN!!!!!!! I wrote a letter to the judge stating that I do not
elect to participate. I also said many sarcastic things about the US legal
system. Essentially, the lawyers will make enough to retire from work. While
I, the supposedly injured party, do not even get enough to buy a tank of gas so
I can come back to work tomorrow.

Many class actions have NO compensation to the injured class. ONLY the lawyers
make out on those cases.

But, what are you going to do? The rules are written by the lawyers. It is
like the wolf guarding the hen house. Too bad for us hens.

At the risk of starting a non-LBC thread on the validity of class-action
lawsuits, I would like to point out that the settlement does, in fact,
involve big $$$, but they go to the lawyers that brought the suit, while we
get a roll of teflon tape. I hate this aspect of our legal system and I
refuse to claim my share of the pie, which amounts to half a crumb compared
to the major slice the lawyers get, in protest of this abuse of the legal
system. I may be cutting off my nose to spite my face but I do sleep
soundly at night.
