Like RV's there is no upper limit.  I once interviewed a guy who, at one
time, worked for a local industrialist on his boat (er, yacht).  That thing
would burn 1000 gal of fuel a day.  Of course they kept it down in the
Caribbean.  A boat that big would be too limited in an inland waterway.
