i unfortunately learned a hard lesson on ebay recently. a seller with over a
400 rating was selling a tr7. it was described as, in the words of the
sellers ad - "its beautiful - a turn key car". after winning, and sending a
$1400+ deposit i flew out to pick up the car. the car was missing -> the
trunk interior, the interior behind the front seats, the bottom half of the
dashboard, half the chrome trim holding the windshield in. the front bumper
was hanging on by two loose bolts, the engine was covered in old grease, rust
and dirt, the belts were missing off the air pump and air conditioner
compressor, the bumpers, rocker panels and tires were all oversprayed with new
paint, the door panels were rotted/bubbled and the foam had all rotted away on
the seats. it cost me $500 and i had to wait 6 weeks to get out of the deal
on this "beautiful turn key car". what have a i learned ? beauty is in the
eye of the beholder first ! second, everything is a matter of perception i
guess, third and most important - ask questions, don't send large deposits and
buyer beware ! larry
