Well tonight I was able to disassemble the GT6 engine I purchased a few
weeks back. The engine is what I Plan to use in my vitesse, making it a
2lite.

I had a very difficult time removing the head, I tried every trick I
knew and even tried other's suggestions. Sprayed it, tapped it, and
banged it. I tried the rope trick; I tried stuffing rags in it. Now
the bad part in desperation I used a sharp chisel and tried to wedge it
into the rear corner, between the head and the block. Then it happened I
heard a snap and flying across the room was small chip it was the corner
of the head. I hope other than the cosmetic appearance I haven't ruined
the head useless. I may see if the machine shop can weld/build up the
corner to make it less noticeable. I will also have them magniflux it as
well, which I believe they do as part of there head/valve job.

Now on to the better news all the journals look very good no scratches,
it appears that the engine has never been rebuilt for it still had
standard bearings in place. There is no damage to the rear of the block
at the thrust washers. I have been told this area is the weak spot for
this engine. I was very happy to find that the piston ridge is so little
I could barely feel it with my fingernail. What little fingernails I
have, hopefully I can get away with out having to by new pistons.

I will take the components to the machine shop this week. I'll keep you
updated as things progress

Ronnie
