Tach dies when brake pedal depressed

79 Spitfire 1500

Is this a tach voltage sensitivity issue?

Or is it a high current draw in the brake system that is nearly crashing 
the electrical system?

Turning on the fan or the headlights does not cause the tach to die.

Has anyone else expereinced this problem?

Any ideas?
