Engines were being built away from the body/assembly plants, engines were
shippd to factories overseas away from the U/K, engines were being built for
other uses other than T/R 2/3's, engine were being built for resale, for
warranty, as well as dealer stock, yet aseach engine was built it was given
the next motor number coming down the line, so chances of getting a matching
number were very slim, this same procedure was also true with about every make
of auto being built in the world, including Ford & G.M. and this goes back to
the 1920's, Standard made engines for many lines of cars, trucks, and farm
equipment and they all had a motor number which really has no relative
relation to the final installation/destination into whatever use"FT"
