Just a note that the original optional rally skid plate doesn't fit with 
the
aluminum sump -- in case one were trying to manage the risk of that rock 
hit. Actually the optional skid plate didn't fit my TR4 anyway due
to the low placement of the stock radiator, even without an alloy
sump (though I *think* it could work with a non-longneck radiator).
I'd think any rock that could crack your alloy sump could hole
your steel sump too -- after it had partially removed your radiator and
shoved it into the fan.
