>Does anyone on the list have an opinion or any experience with the Spax
rear tube shock conversion for the TR6 that Victoria British sells? The
brackets look different in the photo than some of the other rear tube
shock kits I've seen. I'm considering buying this kit. Also, I would
like to hear opinions on using the lever arm shocks with either heavier
oil or with the stiffer valves (or both). Anyone running that setup that
cares to share your thoughts compared to a tube shock conversion? I'm
looking for a stiffer, tighter rear suspension without a lot of
modifications (I don't want to start drilling and cutting). If I could
get the same level of firm control from the lever shocks, I would prefer
to go that route for originality sake.

If it is the same kit I bought 10+ years ago it is comprised of three
brackets for each side and it requires a total of 16 good sized holes to be
drilled in the coachwork. I was happy with the results but my car is not
straight and one side rubbed on the tire and I had to take it off.
Threre is another style that I have seen in pictures that is a single piece
that mounts to the lever shock mount (this is important) and is tucked up
in the wheel well. This would be preferable if there is no interference
with the tire.
But the sweetest conversion is the coil-over conversion. I saw one in
Hudson Wisconsin (1998) and it is available from Revington TR (
http://www.revingtontr.com ) but it looks like some welding to the frame is
required. But this is the way the factory SHOULD have made it.
Run, don't walk, away from the conversions with just the bracket that bolts
to the inner fender only.
