When I replaced the check straps I drilled out the rivets and replaced them
with round headed bolts with an Allen head center. I also used some
loc-tight on the nuts. The result was very good, good strength and nice
appearance.
I'm kind of curious, What is a screw in rivet? When theses check straps
were originally installed Triumph used a special riveting jig which I don't
think anyone has anymore. I can't see how you could rivet it like the
original.
