Bill, I think you're going to have trouble with it flapping in the wind, and
it's going to be a PITA to have to unsnap the left edge to exit the car.
However, please try it and prove me wrong !

As an alternative, you could make a metal tonneau similar to the one used
for the TR2 speed run.  The original was probably screwed or snapped in
place (anyone know ?), but you could probably hinge it at the rear ...
